Welcome to Star City School District! We are the home of the Bulldogs! We are blessed to be a part of rural Southeast Arkansas where our school is the heart of the community! The Star City School District serves students throughout Lincoln County from Grady to Yorktown to Glendale to Cornerville. Our mission is to cultivate success for every child -- #whateverittakes!
As the Director of Federal Programs & Accountability, federal programs oversight is my responsibility. The Star City School District works hard to provide for the needs of our students. We utilize Title I and NSL funds to provide supplemental services to our students. Jimmy Brown Elementary and Star City Middle School are both Title I schoolwide schools.
We work hard to remain current on laws and requirements set forth by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and serve as the liaison between the district and the ADE to ensure that our district meets the Standards of Accreditation. Other administrative duties of this job include grant writing, coordinating professional development for the district, overseeing the novice teacher program, ESL program, and ensuring our teachers are licensed and Arkansas Highly Qualified. funds are used for the salaries of paraprofessionals, technology, MakersSpace, supplemental materials and supplies, and to provide a summer learning camp for students at JBE. NSL funds are used to provide school resource officers, dyslexia therapists, technology, materials and supplies to enhance instruction. We work with the administration to assess student needs to best utilize our funds.
My career in education has been dedicated to the Star City School District and supporting the vision - Building our future one child at a time. The work we do in the Star City School District is focused on this vision. We also consider our core values - Hope, Opportunity, Confidence, Love, Family, Motivation, Relationships, Support, Belief, Safety, Responsibility, and Community - in EVERY decision we make.
