SCMS Receives $10,000 Dollar General Grant

As a way to support communities and local schools, the Dollar General corporation selects the top producing stores and provides a donation to area schools.  Out of over 17,000 stores, Dollar General #461 in Star City was selected as a top producer.  Dollar General #461 selected Star City Middle School as the recipient of the $10,000 grant.  Dollar General Regional Director, Chris Bartholomew and District Manager, Kelly Smith, came to SCMS along with Casey Montgomery, sales associate, and Heather Rice, local Dollar General manager to present the check.

“We always strive to partner with the community, businesses, and families to help promote the success of every student.  We are very fortunate to have a business like Dollar General that truly supports our school and our students.”, stated Mrs. McGriff. “We have worked hard to ensure every student has access to Chromebooks, devices, and internet access.  This has become very important in today's world.  I would like to now focus on upgrading the technology available to the teachers in their classrooms.  Thanks to Dollar General, we are able to work towards this goal.”
