Star City Middle School received the Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Conservation Education Grant sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Rural Development Commission, and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services for $4,848.00  This grant award will be used to purchase equipment for the start of an Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program for the students at Star City Middle School.  This ANASP as part of the National Archery in the Schools Program sharpens students skills, builds-self esteem, and creates a stronger atmosphere for success in the classroom.

As a School of Innovation, Star City Middle School will implement the program in the 2019-2020 school year for students to begin their opportunities to display their skills at state archery tournaments sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Star City Middle School students will now join thousands of others across the U.S. and Canada who enjoy learning in an ANASP program.

Principal Gina Richard states, “We appreciate the sponsors of the ANASP grant and look forward to the great opportunities this grant award will bring to the students.  As we continue to add the components of our School of Innovation, there will be multiple opportunities for students to participate in other elective options. Our focus is to create a STEAM school focused on the whole-child, a first in Arkansas. The ANASP grant is one of the first steps we are making to support our School of Innovation designation.”
