Star City Middle School and Star City High School has been recognized by the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas as a school where students demonstrated high growth on the ATLAS!
The OEP creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards where schools are recognized for high student academic growth. Growth is the best indicator of the positive impact that a school is having on students.
In the Middle School Level report published today,
Star City Middle School received the following awards:
High Overall Growth (Southeast region)
High Math Growth (Southeast region)
High ELA Growth (Southeast region)
In the High School Level report published today,
Star City High School received the following awards:
High Overall Growth (Southeast region)
High Math Growth (Southeast region)
High ELA Growth (Southeast region)
Although the new state accountability model reflects the percentage of students that met or exceeded growth expectations, they will continue to base OEP Awards on the school-level content growth score. These growth scores reflect how much students at the school improved from 2024 compared to how much other students with similar prior achievement improved. Schools are recognized based on Overall growth, as well as for growth in Math and English Language Arts separately.
