It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On Sunday, February 13th, 2022, Matthew Brooks, a 7th grade student at Star City Middle School, passed away. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with them in the difficult days ahead. Matthew will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and the entire SCSD community.
This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students. We will offer guidance and counseling services to students and staff. The well-being of our students and staff will remain a top priority as we deal with the emotions surrounding this tragedy.
We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help our staff and students as needed. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as we work through the pain and emotions of this devastating loss.
