The Star City School District in partnership with the Southeast Educational Cooperative for the past 6 years has participated in ACT 1240 Waivers. This allows the District to be able to hire individuals who have a Bachelor's Degree and are in an approved program of study to become a licensed teacher to be hired, as they work towards obtaining an official teaching license.
In our Cooperative alone there have been 429 teachers hired in 6 years under these waivers, due to the shortage of licensed teachers applying in our area of the state. These waivers have allowed SCSD to hire qualified individuals as teachers while they are still obtaining their teaching license. It is now time for the district to re-apply for a 5 year extension of these waivers and we would like your feedback.
